Lake International School seeking art donations for auction

April 20, 2009 by weilworks

Lake International School is having a fundraiser to support arts & music education. This is an awesome event to support the continuation of arts and music education in public schools and give back to the community. Whereas so many schools have cut these programs and have diminished their place in education, we would like to raise money to fund these programs more efficiently here at Lake and put on a show for the community that supports us by showcasing our talents.

Need help facilitating a space in RiNo?

April 15, 2009 by weilworks

Howard Ecker + Company will help artists find studio space, negotiate on your behalf to structure the best terms and lease, and then facilitate LEED design techniques in building out your new art space.

We want to allow you the most time to focus on your art and creativeness, while we focus on the real estate in order to make your business run as smoothly as possible.  It is a great time right now to be signing a lease, as the market is down for landlords and we are able to negotiate amazing deals.

We also want to help the RiNo District grow and develop into the center for the Arts, the SoHo of the Rockies by connecting the right people to the right spaces.

GDP: General Development Plan
GDPs establish a framework for large or phased projects in developing areas. The GDP process identifies issues related to land use, open space, transportation, water, wastewater, utilities and urban design and provides a conceptual plan for integrating the anticipated land uses with the necessary infrastructure. An approved GDP constitutes approval of a master development plan that will guide all future improvements within the defined GDP boundaries.

Disposing of Hazardous Materials

July 14, 2008 by yellowhouseartist

Hello RiNos,

I’m trying to figure out the best way to safely dispose of old jars and rags with oil paint residue. To this point, I’ve been collecting them, but I need to get rid of them. I have contacted Alpine Waste Management (the management team for my area) and they apparently do not handle hazardous materials specifically. Furthermore, they claimed the amounts were so insignificant, I could probably just dispose of them normally anyway, but I do not agree. I think this is a worthy discussion for everyone in the district and look forward to reading your solutions/suggestions. Thanks.

Interesting Article from the NEA

June 25, 2008 by yellowhouseartist

Hello RiNos,

I happened to find this article from The National Endowment for the Arts, and thought it would be good to share. I think the statistics on employment and income are particularly interesting.
