What is the Story of Stuff?

January 18, 2008

I just ran across this great web site so I thought I’d post on the blog. Could be another reason to buy art locally made eh? Visit Annie Leonard’s web site and take 20 minutes to listen to her story here storyofstuff.org

“From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It’ll teach you something, it’ll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.”

Great food in RiNo

January 18, 2008

The cafe at Taxi- Fuel-is up and running! Having just finished my third meal there in as many days I can’t be more enthusiastic about it. The hours are 7am to 3pm with eventual liquor service and evening hours. They do lattes and capuchinos with local Novo Coffee and offer scones, fruit and oatmeal among other things. For lunch they have sandwiches, soups and salads. Here are a few of the 18 lunch offerings:

Roasted pork, salsa verde, salsa verde, pickled red onions on ciabatta $9

Chicken salad, grapes, celery , walnut, curried mayo, cress, and tarragon on whole grain $8

Hummus with grilled veggies, feta, tomato and radish sprouts on homemade flatbread$7

All are available with chips or salad.

The soups are great, their homemade hummus and flatbread are really good with just the right amount of olive oil and lemon and they don’t over package the to-go stuff. You can find them on the northwest side of the Taxi building at 3457 Ringsby Court.fule.jpg
