I recall that Jefferson County has had hazardous waste days at the Fairgrounds near 6th Avenue and Indiana. They encouraged people to bring old paint cans and volatile chemicals, so that they could be safely dealt with. Denver won’t take even empty paint cans from my trash unless I “hide” them in a plastic bag. Try this as a start: http://www.rooneyroadrecycling.org/hazmart.html
